Another one from a few months ago…….
This was booked in for a pre-sale detail, so the brief was simple, make it look good!
I was off to a good start as the owner does keep on top of keeping it clean, but after 3 years of ownership it had inevitably picked up a few marks here and there.
No real befores as a) I forgot and b)as we seem to be constantly getting busier and busier I just don’t have the time and luxury to grab as many pics of the process as I would like to!
But I think I grabbed enough to make a reasonable write up
So first job, wheels off so I could give the arches etc. a proper clean
After washing with G101 and various brushes, it was onto tar removal
And as I reasonable access I gave the rear silencer boxes a tidy up
Callipers given a coat of SV Autobahn
Wheels were cleaned, pre-waxed with CF normal followed by SV Autobahn
Once the wheels were back on, the car was washed, clayed and de-tarred in the usual manner, once dried I finished up some areas in the engine bay, namely the carbon fibre parts
Prep’d with cleaner fluid normal
Then treated with Autobahn, applied by hand, no particular reason, I jus find doing smaller areas such as wheels etc. easier by hand
Once cured buffed off, leaving the engine looking like this
Next onto the paintwork
What we were faced with.
After a few test areas, to get the results I was after this was the correction combo (seems to be my goto combo at the moment) festal wool pad and Megs 105
After (before refining)
Progress check with a thorough wipe down between sets
Revealing the true finish
The paintwork was then refined with Festool MPA 11000 and a 3M blue pad
Once all the machine work was completed, 2 layers of Swissvax Best of Show were applied (over 2 days)
Interior was given a once over, i.e leather cleaned and a protector applied.
The owner had asked for some shots to use in the advert he was going to run, so I got some of my studio strobes out and had a play for a few shots
And some final daylight shots
