What is Paint Correction?

Paint correction is a generic term we use for any work we carry out that involves removing  defects from a vehicles paintwork.

Paint correction can be a very cost effective solution to traditional body shop resprays and repairs, so before you get that respray quote why not contact us, we may save you an unnecessary and inconvenient expense

Please note, we do not use any products that mask or temporarily fill defects, we leave nothing but a true WYSIWYG finish.

To help us to quote accurately, and advise on your correction options, we recommend you to have your car subjected to our Paint Inspection service.

We will take comprehensive measurements of your paint work, using a PTG (Paint Thickness Guage), which will enable us to accurately assess how far we can safely proceed with any necessary correction work. We can provide a print out for you to keep for future reference

We will then proceed to highlight any defects, using specialised lighting, including if you wish a test area machine polished to highlight the difference that is possible to achieve.

We may need to wash your vehicle to carry out this service, we will advise on arrival

Cost for paint inspection is £95.00 which is redeemable against any further services booked.

Please allow 60 – 90 minutes for this service

We have varying levels of correction, from very mild finishing polishes through to full body wet sanding.

What are the differences?

No 2 cars are ever the same, from the level of defects through to the hardness of paint, as a rough rule of thumb Japanese cars i.e. Nissan, Honda & Toyota tend to have fairly soft paint, which whilst be relatively easy to correct, it does tend to be thinner overall than other marques. German i.e. V.A.G, BMW, Mercedes & Porsche cars tend to have harder paints which can require a far more aggressive approach to achieve an acceptable level of correction.

What is used to correct paintwork?

Finishing Polishes – are used in conjunction with a soft finishing pad to remove very light swirls & marring, and also after more aggressive compounding to refine and burnish the finish to the highest possible gloss, leaving the paintwork shimmering with depth and colour.

Polishes – standard polish are slightly more aggressive than finishing polishes, but on harder Germanic paints if used correctly can be made to finish down very well, we use these mainly in our 1 stage polishing process that makes up or enhance and protect service.

Compounds – these are very aggressive and primarly used to remove deeper scratches, sanding marks, bird lime etching, these will need to be followed up with a finishing polish as they can’t not be broken down sufficiently to leave a perfect finish.

Wet Sanding – Very fine grades of sanding material are used, ranging from 1500 grit through to 4000 grit, to remove localised deep scratches, serious etching, and orange peel from both resprays and factory finishes.
